This is Dockery Gap Falls, which is located on a tributary to Hurricane Creek in the ozarks just East of Lake Fort Smith. "Difficult Bushwack" was the rating in the guide book. That would be an understatement (: Click for larger.
I had to crawl with my face, and pants and shoes and jacket, in the mud for about 30 yds to get close to some of these birds without them swimming off from me. Having the longest lens on earth won't get you good bird pics if you aren't able to get close (: Enjoy!
Saw some very interesting things, I haven't identified the sparrows yet. Also, if you have not been to or heard of WWP you are definitely missing out. This is probably the coolest ecological restoration area in this part of the country. Enjoy. Click image for best resolution.
When we arrived below the eye, to our surprize the sun was shining straight through the eye towards us onto the path. It made a very beautiful warm spot right in the middle of the rugged dry creek bed. We were able to scramble our way around the left side and up to the top where we had lunch in the unusually warm sun.
Below is the lower portion of the main waterfall on Indian creek followed by a view from Hedge's pour-off. Enjoy.
California, there are so many pictures to post, but they will be trickling in very slowly, here is a teaser. Both at Yosemite: first, Half Dome from Tioga Pass, then Upper Yosemite Falls from swinging bridge.
I hoped to also get some Indigo Bunting images, but they stayed clear on the other side of the yard (: Notice my uncommonly slow shutter speeds (1/100th sec). I just can't let myself shoot above 400 ISO, the pictures were plenty noisy enough as it was.
He sits (usually on top of a light pole) and goes through his repertoire, one call after another and then he does this little backflip to show his feathers, then starts all over....Poor guy, he just can't seem to get the ladies. I have wanted to get a picture of him in the middle of that back-flip, but don't ever seem to be in the right place at the right time. This image is the mockingbird landing below our balcony. Enjoy!
(behind Sam's in Fayetteville) where I have been wanting to explore the "wetlands" that Sam's put in to counteract the wetlands they destroyed to build Sam's club. For the most part, it was just thorns and mud, somewhat frustrating. I did manage to get this frog to pose for me however (:

I finally have joined the club (with all my over 50 friends) and gotten a bird feeder to hang right out my window where I study. I actually had the feeder last year (Thanks Callie!) but a cranky neighbor wouldn't let me hang it because the birds would poop on her "smoking chair." Anyways, here is some of the action I have had on it so far. I especially like the sleeping sparrow, he was really surprised to see me. Enjoy. (And yes, these were taken through a dirty window) Click for best res.

I was in the middle of studying for a midterm, so I was looking for any reason to catch a break. I started off shooting with the 70-200mm plus the 2x teleconverter, but thought it was too tight and uninteresting. Took off the teleconverter and shot this image at 70mm, catching just a bit of horizon gave it the depth it needed to look tranquil. Also notice what I think is Venus in the right 3rd of frame.
